The Benefits of Online Therapy
Join From Anywhere
You can attend sessions from home or another private space, without needing to travel or navigate unfamiliar environments.
Comfort & Familiarity
Being in your own environment can help your nervous system feel more settled, making it easier to focus on what matters.
Private & Confidential
No waiting rooms or chance encounters — online therapy allows you to access support privately and on your own terms.
Flexible & Energy Aware
Online sessions can be easier to fit around work, caring responsibilities, chronic health conditions, or fluctuating energy levels.
Neurodivergent Affirming
Online therapy can reduce sensory load and you can turn your camera off if that helps you feel more at ease.
How Online Counselling Works
We’ll meet via a secure video platform, which is simple to use and no downloads needed.
Each session lasts for 50 minutes and follows the same structure as in-person counselling. We move at a pace that works for you, with room to pause if needed.
Is Online Counselling Secure?
Confidentiality is central to my work, whether sessions take place online or in person.
I use privacy features such as a waiting room, so only you and I can access the session. I’ve also completed additional training in working safely and ethically online.
What Do I Need?
To attend online counselling, you’ll need:
- A device with working audio and video
- A reliable internet connection
- A private space where you won’t be overheard or interrupted
If you’re unsure whether online therapy would feel right for you, we can talk it through in a free initial consultation.
Common Questions
Below are answers to some common questions about online counselling.
Is online counselling as effective as in-person therapy?
Research suggests that online therapy can be just as effective as face-to-face counselling for many people. The most important factor is the therapeutic relationship — feeling understood, safe, and able to speak openly.
What if I find video calls uncomfortable?
Some people find video tiring or intense. We can adapt the session, including pauses or turning the camera off if needed. If it’s not working for you, we’ll adjust.
What happens if the internet connection drops?
Occasionally technology does fail. If that happens, we’ll simply reconnect using the same link. If needed, we can briefly switch to phone so the session isn’t lost. We’ll agree a back-up plan in advance so you don’t need to worry about it.
Who is online counselling suitable for?
Online therapy can work well for adults who prefer the comfort of their own space, have busy schedules, live in areas with limited local options, or find travel difficult.
It can also suit people who feel more regulated in familiar surroundings or find unfamiliar environments draining. During an initial consultation, we can explore whether this format feels supportive and manageable for you.
